TigerLocal to launch the next season of KBC, renamed as Kaun Banega Unicorn. To be Hosted exclusively on Clubhouse. Kunal Ravikant roped in as anchor.
The show aims to be inclusive in nature and will accept entries from all across Bengaluru and not just Indirapuram.
In a rather entertaining turn of events, the startup funding scene in India became a lot more glamorous after the surprise announcement of KBU or Kaun Banega Unicorn, a game show that will put an insane amount of money in startups until their valuation blows out of proportion.
The format will be picked up directly from Kaun Banega Crorepati, who picked it from Who wants to be a millionaire.
"It's a classic Uber - Ola - Taxi For Sure kinda situation" - Lavish Agrawal, the founder of a Gola Electric, an offshoot of Gola Cabs, a startup that delivers Chuski Golas in AC cooled cabs for apt crunchiness, commented on the format of the show.
Kunal Ravikant, a full-time philosopher and a part-time founder has been roped in as the anchor of the show. The competition for the anchor spot was quite a bit, but Kunal was able to sell his vision for the show to the producers, much better than people having real concrete ideas.
When asked about how he was able to bag the role, Kunal commented: "Not everyone gets it. But I do."
The show aims to be inclusive in nature and will accept entries from all across Bengaluru and not just Indirapuram.
For the first round, the founders need to keep poking the VC associates for a meeting with the Helpful Supremus, also known as VC Partners in non-Bengaluru areas. The round of the name is aptly retained as - Fastest Fingers First.
Once the senior partners have been helpful enough, they are passed on to the Hot Seat. The Hot Seat is where the founders are asked the difficult questions.
The questions are from 5 sections - Vision of the company, Business Model, Clubhouse contributions, YourStory coverage, and Founder Twitter Profile activity.
"We debated over keeping Profitability as a section as well, but we figured most founders quit before reaching that section." SomeSher Khan, senior partner at TigerLocal highlighted how nobody gets it.
Founders can use the 3 lifelines. First is “All Hands”, where Founders will turn to their employees to provide them with the correct answers, like always. Second is the “Phone an Investor for Introduction” where Founders can call up one of their existing investors for help, and he’ll introduce them to another investor. And the third lifeline is “51-49” where the Founder can skip the next two questions and in return give away 49% stake in the company.
When asked about the choice of Clubhouse as the platform for hosting the show, the sponsors were in fact, surprised at our audacity to ask the question.
"Well! When you're planning a show of this scale, there are only 2 places you can host it - Clubhouse or Sharda University. These are the only 2 places where the world is." commented Mr. Lakad Bagga, senior partner at TigerLocal.
The show will begin not-recording after the end of IPL because the startups will only be able to concentrate once the biggest sponsorship battle of the country is dealt with.
In rumors, we have heard that SoftDank vision fund is roping in Raju Yadav, the erstwhile founder of Cursing.in to begin the Zoom sessions of Dus Billion ka Dum.
