SaaS Platform doesn't use GPT-3 in Anything. VCs aghast. Valuation Plummets.
The moment GPT-3 opened up for the private beta, this famed silicon valley VC hasn’t slept one bit. Firstly to get in line to have access, and then ‘adding value’ to all the companies he has ‘helped in any way he could’.
However, PlumberTulip, a SaaS platform for a monthly delivery of tulips to plumbers, said no to integrating GPT-3 in any way whatsoever. The CEO, in a rare case of backbone existence, stood up and said that there is no meaningful use-case of AI in any area of his platform.
There were two levels of blasphemy that resulted in this avalanche of valuations. Firstly, the acceptance that GPT-3 doesn’t make sense for the business, and the next came in, when the CEO said his platform doesn’t work on AI.
The VC, an ardent samosa fan on Twitter, added - “I mean I can ask GPT-3 to build entire PlumberTulip again and it would have. There’s nothing GPT-3 can’t make. I just asked GPT-3 - hey Gippu, can you make samosas? and she said yes. If that is not ‘value’, I am not sure what is!”
