SaaS CEO starts to appreciate marketing. Fired unanimously. Dev Garewal to become new CEO.
Despite valuing bottom line numbers over employee's mental health, manipulating the Brassdoor ratings, and getting mentioned in the latest Jhartner Magic Pyramid, Niketan Mehta, the CEO of SurveySarva Technologies, a generic survey platform, was fired unanimously by the board, after he publically acknowledged the effect of marketing in driving up the revenue numbers, through the latest rebranding effort.
A shocked Nick was quoted - "I was awarded 30 under 30 for Faridabad, and then 30 under 30 for Delhi NCR, and then 30 under 30 for India above Tropic of Cancer. I was the youngest CEO this company has seen in its 24 years of existence. " Mehta could not bear it anymore. But he continued.
"One fine day, DG our CMO, sent a link on my WhatsApp about how brand is an excellent way to overcharge people for shit. And I felt, if only I can pay a branding agency on Fiverr to redesign a logo, I can charge a hefty sum to my customers, for taking them to a promised land. The only mistake I made was to publically acknowledge that it was indeed a great idea. That's it. That was enough for me to be demoted from a CEO to a LinkedIn personal branding expert or as few people would call it - unemployed."
The ripples of the news were heard all the way from PRfewswire to PRweb360. It became a ruckus among the 1265 email subscribers of the company. To manage the public image post this radical decision, the board has appointed Dev Garewal, the CMO as the new CEO.
He was admitted to the hospital as soon as the news broke out. Some say shock, some say last touch attribution.
But through our sources, we have found out that Dev is undergoing surgery to have certain neurons removed that enabled him to understand marketing at first.
Dammit Joshi, a board member spoke to us and requested anonymity. But we are not abiding by the rules. Dammit said - "Dev Garewal or DG is an asset for our company. Our sales head or CRO cannot be made the CEO otherwise who'll do the selling. Our COO cannot be made the CEO, otherwise who'll run the company. We needed someone whose movement created no void at all. The only challenge with DG is - he publically accepts that marketing is a gamechanger and we cannot let that ruin the culture of our company. Not on my watch."
"Yeah, it's shocking. After 6 therapy session, 8 hypnotisms, 12 occult spells, and sacrificing half a kilo of paneer, I finally brought him on the other side and made him a believer. I never knew it would end up so badly for him." Dev Garewal, a staunch vegan, shared with us.
"But if you look at the brighter side, it worked out well for me. I get to be the CEO. But in the end, it's the story that people tell, is what matters. And my story turned out to be great. Because the story is the strategy."
We stopped asking Dev questions, but he kept on rambling - "The last thing I am going to do before I get my memory wiped out is to fire the entire marketing team. That's the least I can do for them. Because life's too short to work for a CEO who doesn't get marketing."
